I am Angela D. Scott, seeking a third term as a Progressive Slate delegate for AD-51. As a U.S. Navy veteran, Black woman, and lifelong Democrat, I have dedicated my life to uplifting marginalized voices. My doctoral studies at USC in organizational change, leadership, and intersectionality deepens my commitment to building a more inclusive California.
Accomplishments in Advocacy and Leadership
As a member of the California Democratic Party’s Veterans Caucus and Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) Executive Boards, I've supported disabled veterans and survivors of military sexual trauma. On the Santa Monica Public Safety Reform and Oversight Commission, I’ve prioritized community engagement, decriminalizing homelessness, and prevention-focused safety.
Advancing Racial and Economic Justice
Through the Committee for Racial Justice, I've advocated for affordable housing and collaborated with Santa Monica City Council to issue a public apology for racial injustices and install a commemorative plaque - initial actionable steps.
Strengthening Educational Opportunities
Participating in Community for Excellent Public Schools (CEPS) has fostered deeper insights into funding academic and infrastructure improvements. As President of Santa Monica High School’s African American Student Staff Support Group, I’ve collaborated with Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District to close opportunity gaps and empower underserved youth through leadership programs and higher education access.
Promoting Inclusion and Equity
As a mother of three daughters, I am committed to protecting reproductive rights, empowering people with disabilities, and advancing LGBTQ+ inclusion, ensuring resources and accommodations for all individuals.
Goals for the Next Term
My experience in leadership, advocacy, and coalition-building drives progressive change. I ask for your vote to build a more inclusive and just California. Let’s move our values forward—together.
