Barry Snell

My name is Barry A. Snell (He/Him), and I am running for California Assembly District 51 delegate on the Progressive Slate. I pledge to advocate for policies that advance social, environmental and economic justice for all.

I am a Certified Public Accountant, small business owner and active community volunteer. I currently serve as a City Council Member for the City of Santa Monica.  I served previously on the Santa Monica College Board of Trustees and as a schoolboard member of the Santa Monica Malibu Unified School District. My advocacy and support for public education as a way to address racial and economic inequities has always been a passion that drives me.

As a CPA and a prior board member for Downtown Santa Monica Inc. I have continued to work on policies to increase workforce and economic development. I am also a major renters’ rights advocate and will continue to work on affordable housing policies at the local and state level.

In my last four terms as a delegate to the California Democratic Party, I have worked with delegates across the state to craft and adopt a platform approved by all delegates.

As a delegate, I will use my expertise to advocate for economic opportunity for all, workers’ rights, racial justice, the Green New Deal and more progressive policies. I ask that you vote for me, Barry A. Snell and the Progressive Slate for AD 51.
