Danny Hang was elected to the West Hollywood City Council on November 5, 2024. Some of his legislative priorities include:
As the next AD51 Delegate, Danny hopes to bring this same vision to the California Democratic Party, strengthening our progressive values. He is blessed to run for Delegate alongside committed progressive champions on the Progressive Slate for AD51.
The son of an immigrant union worker, Danny saw firsthand how his father worked long hours as a machinist & became a member of IAMAW Union Local 725. As such, he is a passionate advocate of professional growth & vocational equity. He believes that workers are the backbone of the most powerful economy in the world, & deserve a fair & equitable wage.
As the son of an immigrant small business owner, Danny watched his mom’s nail salon succeed & slowly serve as an equalizer leading to a pathway to the American middle class for his family. Danny knows firsthand that small businesses are vital to creating local jobs & growing the economy.
Danny graduated from Loyola Marymount University & kicked off his public service career at the Social Security Administration, helping to process Supplemental Security Income benefits for people with disabilities and older adults.
Having fueled his passion for serving others, he returned to school to pursue a double masters’ in Social Work & Gerontology from the University of Southern California. He now works in disability retirement for LA County, helping permanently disabled fire and police responders.
Danny was appointed to the West Hollywood Disabilities Advisory Board in 2017. In 2022, he was appointed to serve on the West Hollywood Business License Commission.
In 2024, Danny was appointed to serve on the Commission on Judicial Nominees Evaluation, assisting the governor in the judicial appointment process. He previously served on the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s AAPI Advisory Board. He also served on the Executive Board for Asian Democrats of LA County.
Danny is a proud member of the West Hollywood community where he resides with his cat Piper. His focus is on improving the community through servant-leadership.
