Elvina Beck

As a small business owner, community advocate, and 2022 “Woman of the Year” recipient, I am running on the Progressive Slate as a Democratic Delegate for Assembly District 51. My goal is to ensure that our voices are heard and our communities thrive. With over a decade of hands-on experience fostering collaboration and creating affordable housing alternatives, I’ve dedicated my career to building innovative solutions that prioritize people over profits across different neighborhoods.

I believe in a California for community support, responsible independence, sustainability, and accessible opportunity for those who seek it.

My progressive values are rooted in women’s and LGBTQ rights and supporting the backbone of our economy: small business. I am passionate about common sense upcycling policies and food security. I am on the ground daily with low-income shared housing neighbors seeing firsthand the challenges they face with inflated living costs, insufficient resources for mental health care, and concerns of crime. I’m committed to addressing these issues head-on so people can live with dignity in their daily lives, work or careers, in furthering their education, caretaking for loved ones, or anything that they do to fulfill themselves and benefit the neighborhood they call home.

As President of the Central Hollywood Neighborhood Council since 2014, I am dedicated to community service to residential neighbors and providing resources to the business community which fosters tourism, filming, employment and beautification. I work with and support non-profit organizations doing innovative work that government does not have capacity or appetite for.

My civic service is to amplify community voices, drive grassroots solutions, and build coalitions that deliver real and quick results.

Assembly District Delegates help shape the party platform, endorse candidates for statewide and national office, and vote on resolutions that impact the policies and values of our party. This role is critical in ensuring that our district’s priorities— Equal rights, affordable living to prevent homelessness, sustainable local practices, and healthcare equity —are front and center in the Democratic Party’s agenda.

I bring a wealth of experience as a California license general contractor, wife and mother of two young boys, a small business owner with physical locations across the state, recognized community advocate, and public servant. My tenure in Hollywood on multiple boards to rename a district, build a large park, create a new BID, receive two permits for works on the public right of way, and work with the Hollywood Partnership has equipped me with the skills to navigate complex systems, build consensus, and achieve tangible outcomes. I understand the power of collective action and the importance of listening to and empowering those I represent.
