My name is Erick Matos (he/him/él), and I am running for AD-51 Delegate on the Progressive Slate to build an equitable, inclusive, and forward-thinking California.
I am an LGBTQ+ and Latinx community advocate, a renter, and a West Hollywood Planning Commissioner. I am proud to come from a family of Puerto Rican immigrants who came to California decades ago in search of a better life for our family. As CADEM Delegate, I will fight to advance policies and support leaders that will ensure families like mine are welcomed and able to thrive in our state.
I have served as a senior health policy advisor at Los Angeles County and L.A. Care Health Plan to advance policies that make health and mental health care accessible for all, regardless of ability to pay. I have fought to advance policies that support a strong safety net system of care and address social determinants of health which includes food security, housing, education, economic justice, environmental justice, and more. I have lobbied at the state and federal levels of government for Medi-Cal / Medicaid expansion to provide health and mental health care for the undocumented, incarcerated, and unhoused communities. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community I have advocated for community based access to PrEP and PEP to eliminate the spread of HIV, culturally competent health and mental health services, and gender affirming care. I hope to continue this work as an AD-51 CADEM Delegate.
I believe it is time to bring in new voices and perspectives to represent our district to the Party. We need swift and bold action on issues that have continued to impact our state and region for far too long. I believe in health and mental health care for all, affordable housing, reproductive justice, LGBTQ+ rights, environmental protection, rent control, and worker protections. I would be honored to earn your vote.
