While our nation grapples with divided government, I believe it’s more important than ever for California to continue leading on vital issues such as climate change, healthcare, reproductive rights and a society that lifts up everyone.
As a two-term incumbent delegate, I’ve been on the forefront of fighting for progressive values. I’m an active member of the Environmental, Women’s and Progressive Caucuses. I secured CADEM’s endorsement of landmark bills to reduce single-use plastics in California and to make the second year of community college free.
For California Indivisible, as leader of the Healthcare & Reproductive Rights Group, I spearheaded advocacy for a number of bills, including one that significantly expanded Medi-Cal coverage and another that prohibits enforcement of out-of-state abortion restrictions in California. I’ve also been an ally on the front lines with California Indivisible’s Green Team, including in its battle to push back against restrictions on rooftop solar.
As Assembly District Leader for the California Nurses campaign, I lead our district’s fight for CalCare, AB 1400, a single-payer healthcare system in California. Our efforts resulted in dozens of cities and counties across the state passing resolutions in support of single-payer healthcare. I personally persuaded the City of Santa Monica to send a letter of support to the legislature. Though AB 1400 was pulled, we were able to secure endorsements from dozens of legislators whose support will be crucial as we continue the fight for a single-payer system.
As Legislative VP of Santa Monica Democratic Club, I lead advocacy for state bills on affordable housing, protecting rent control, divesting from fossil fuels, funding for community clinics, reducing student loan debt, and political reform. I was particularly gratified to see the passage of two important bills: One that resulted in the creation of California’s first public bank here in Los Angeles – and another that cleared the way to return Bruce’s beach in Huntington Beach to the family of the black owners from whom it was illegally seized 100 years ago.
Please vote for me so that I can continue my work for a cleaner environment, healthcare for all, equal educational opportunity, and a just and equitable society.
