My name is Julie C. Stromberg (She/Her) and I am proud to be running on the Progressive Slate to represent my beloved community of Assembly District 51 as a delegate to the California Democratic Party. I love my family, my community, and my advocacy work. Serving as your elected delegate to the California Democratic Party would be an incredible honor for me.
As the mother of three young children, I strive to create a better world for our future generations. My top priority is the issue of Climate Change. As my hero Jane Goodall so elegantly wrote: “We must remember that we have not inherited this planet from our parents, we have borrowed it from our children.” We are not doing a very good job of leaving our planet for our future generations. If I can do anything with my life, it is to leave the world in a better state for our future. As such, Climate Change is my top issue.
As the mother of a child with disabilities and an attorney representing persons with disabilities, I fight for a better quality of life and equity for persons with disabilities. As the mother of two children with learning disabilities and as an education attorney, my life experience and expertise have thrust me into the world of education advocacy. Creating a better educational system that is accessible to all children --- regardless of disability, learning difference, or socio-economic access --- is my passion.
In addition to being a mom and an education attorney with a civil rights background, I am a commissioner serving on the City of Los Angeles’ Central Area Planning Commission. I am also an executive member of the Los Angeles City College (“LACC”) Foundation --- a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting LACC and its students. Last, I serve on the parent/caregiver associations for my children’s schools. I have been an active member of the Greater Wilshire community for over a decade. As a community activist and advocate, I chaired the renovation of a neighborhood park to make it accessible to all individuals, including persons with disabilities. I served on the Greater Wilshire Neighborhood Council (“GWNC”) for six years as my community representative. I also served as chair of several GWNC committees, including the Transportation, Neighborhood Purpose Grants (“NPG”), and Sustainability Committees --- the latter I created in 2015. I served for five years as the Council District 4 representative on the City of Los Angeles’ Community Forest Advisory Committee (“CFAC”), and I chaired the committee in 2020.
I would be incredibly honored to serve as your elected delegate to the California Democratic Party. Serving as your delegate would enable me to have the opportunity to represent my beloved community and further my advocacy. I humbly request that you vote for me, Julie C., and the Progressive Slate for AD 51.
