I am an astrophysicist, community organizer, and renter in Hollywood. I recently ran a grassroots campaign for State Assembly and am running for Delegate on the Progressive Slate for AD51 because California can do better at tackling our homelessness, housing, and climate crises. I am an advocate for tenants’ rights, equitable land use and transportation infrastructure, and reimagining our mental health system.
My boots-on-the-ground work confronting homelessness and food insecurity has been recognized by the City and County of LA, Assemblymember Richard Bloom, and The LA Times. I founded the Hollywood Branch of the SELAH Neighborhood Homeless Coalition to aid unhoused and educate housed Angelenos through direct service. I am a founding board member of Hollywood4WRD, a nonprofit uniting residents, service providers, and business leaders to innovate and advocate for homelessness and mental health solutions. I led the delivery of thousands of pounds of free fruits and vegetables to senior citizens during the pandemic. I also led LA’s largest homeless census in 2021 when LAHSA abandoned the official Count.
I earned my PhD from the University of Chicago in 2015 and was elected to the Central Hollywood Neighborhood Council in 2019. A proven coalition-builder, I earned over 45% of the vote in my State Assembly race as a first-time candidate. My all-volunteer team knocked on 33,000 doors, showing me the needs of AD51’s residents from the Pacific Ocean to Griffith Park. As a Delegate, I will use my scientific, organizing, and political experience to advance the effective, progressive policies we deserve. I hope I can earn your vote.
