I am an astrophysicist, community organizer, nonprofit leader, and policy analyst running to be an AD51 ADEM Delegate on the Progressive Slate. I believe that our systems should ask more from us than our money and test more of us than our patience—that each of LA County’s 10 million residents have skills, resources, ideas, and strengths that should be harnessed to make our communities sustainable, safe, healthy, and equitable. Everyone in California deserves to live in such a place—no matter what we look like, who we love, or how much we have. We’re not there yet, but my focus as a delegate will be to use my skills and experience to bring us closer to it.
A proven coalition builder, I have years of political, policy, governance, and nonprofit experience confronting LA’s existential challenges. I designed and led homelessness censuses during the COVID pandemic, designed and led efforts to combat food-insecurity among at-risk senior citizens, and assessed the potential human impact of city camping ordinances. I lead homelessness services in Hollywood for and chair the board of the SELAH Neighborhood Homeless Coalition. I served on the founding board of Hollywood 4WRD—a nonprofit coordinating a $116M LA County mental health reform pilot—and am now working to redesign healthcare delivery for my community’s most vulnerable residents. As an academic, I led award-winning research into the evolution of galaxies using the Hubble Space Telescope. My life in science was a privilege, and I’d be honored to continue adding my perspective and skills to yours to build a better California.
